Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome! Whether you’re new to home education or simply looking for a fresh, flexible approach, we’re here to support your family’s journey. Below you’ll find honest answers to the most common questions we get from homeschooling parents just like you.

Who is Homeschool Academy Tutoring for?

We work with families who are choosing to educate their children outside of the school system—especially those seeking support, structure, and community. Many of the young people we assist have experienced anxiety, bullying, or simply didn’t thrive in mainstream environments.

No, we are not a school.
Homeschool Academy Tutoring is a support service for home-educating families. We don’t replace your role—we work with you, walking alongside you to provide engaging, curriculum-aligned learning sessions.

You remain the primary educator. We’re here to equip you with tools, guidance, and flexible learning options that reflect your values and your child’s needs.

No, we do not manage, or process homeschool registration.
Registration is your legal responsibility and must be completed through your state or territory’s education authority.

That said—we’re here to help! We can support you with learning plans, documentation, and evidence of progress to assist with the registration and review process.

Yes. If your child is not enrolled in a school, you must be registered for home education with your state or territory’s education department—even if you’re using our support sessions.

Our role is to support your homeschooling, not replace it.

We provide live, interactive sessions aligned with the Australian Curriculum, supporting:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Humanities (History & Geography)

Each subject is broken into topic-based workshops, so you can customise learning to suit your child’s needs.

For example, English includes:

  • ✍️ Creative Writing
  • 📖 Responding to Literature
  • 🔤 Phonics, Fluency & Comprehension
  • 🧠 Spelling & Vocabulary
  • 📝 Grammar & Handwriting

The Parent Empowerment Pack is our best-value option. It gives your family access to every topic across all subjects, with multiple sessions each week.

This option was created for families who want full flexibility, variety, and consistent support across their child’s learning journey.

We offer weekly payment plans and upfront discounted payment options.

Absolutely.
We believe parents are the most important influence in a child’s education. Our goal is to equip and empower you, not replace your role. We’ll always work in partnership with you, keeping communication open and supporting your goals and priorities.

No—we don’t do tests, grades, or assessments. That’s not what we’re about.

Instead, we:

  • Provide gentle, real-time feedback on participation and submitted work
  • Keep you informed about how your child is progressing through Seesaw
  • Help identify areas of confidence and areas that may need more focus
  • Celebrate growth and effort over performance

We want learning to feel safe, encouraging, and growth-focused.

Yes! While we don’t issue formal reports, our team provides ongoing updates and feedback so you’re always aware of how your child is tracking.

We’re happy to provide examples of work, comments, or written summaries to help you during registration or review.

Our sessions are held live online and run twice a week for each topic. You can choose as many or as few sessions as you like. Our timetable is released before the start of each term, so you can plan your week with ease.

Sessions are kept at 45 mins each, interactive, and relaxed, ensuring every child feels seen and supported.

Yes!
Many of the children we support are neurodivergent, anxious, school-avoidant, or recovering from negative school experiences. We create safe, structured spaces that allow children to re-engage with learning in a way that works for them.

Our team is trauma-informed, patient, and committed to helping each child feel understood, accepted, and empowered.

Our support programs run in 10-week blocks, following a four-term year.
This structure gives families rhythm, consistency, and the ability to reset and reselect topics at the start of each term.

Each term, you can:

  • Continue with existing topics
  • Try something new
  • Adjust your learning plan based on your child’s progress and interests

You’re never locked in for the year—you choose what works for your family, one term at a time.

Yes, you can join at any time—as long as there is space available in your chosen workshops.

We keep our sessions reasonably small and personalised, so if a workshop is full, your family will be placed on a waitlist and contacted as soon as a spot becomes available or a new group opens.

To avoid missing out, we recommend securing your place early each term.

The Family Membership is a once-per-year fee of $88, which helps cover administrative costs and gives your family access to our services throughout the year.

This membership includes:

  • Access to our workshop and support programs
  • Ongoing guidance and communication
  • Priority placement in popular workshops
  • Continued access to discounted rates and family-exclusive offers

It’s a small annual fee that helps us provide consistent, high-quality support to every family in our community.

Yes! We work with expat and international families, especially those seeking an Australian Curriculum-aligned approach. We’ve helped many families transition into new lifestyles, travel while learning, or stay connected to Australian education while overseas.

Absolutely!
We’d love to hear more about your family and help you decide what support fits best.
